Small World Vacations' Agent, Jodie's trip to the Big Apple to see the Dream!
Small World Vacations , Disney Dream Aqua Duck , Disney CruiseRecently, I traveled to New York City for the Disney Cruise Line Press Event for the Disney Dream. I flew in from Wisconsin and spent a few days with Stephanie, another agent with Small World Vacations from Boston.

We stayed at the Sheraton Time Square and were able to take in many of the sites. We immediately headed out to see the "city that never sleeps" ! We walked up to Rockefeller Center where the ice rink is already open for the Winter Season.
And of course we had to visit our favorite Mouse in NYC
There were many landmarks that I recognized from TV and the movies. Seeing them in person was like a dream. At dusk we headed to the center of Time Square to take in all the sights and lights of this great city. What an amazing experience!
On Thursday, we were joined by some more Small World Vacations' agents and we headed off to Tavern on the Green for lunch with Sue, Donna and Kathy from the main office in NJ
The press event was held at Gustavinos which an unique location under the 59th Street Bridge. Disney had decorated the venue to look like you were walking right into the Disney Dream. Rachel Quinn came out to start the event and announced that she would be the Cruise Director on the Disney Dream for the Inagural sailing on 1/26/11.
We also had the honor of llistening while Bob Iger and Jay Rasulo announced some of the amazing features planned for the new ship. We headed downstairs where we got to see first hand of some of these unique additions.
There will be a first of it's kind, water slide called the AquaDuck that will actually go out of the ship over the ocean and then back again in a plexiglass tube. Not sure how will I will enjoy this but my kids are ready to go try it out.
A new bar on the ship will feature windows behind the bar that will play videos of skylines of many popular cities around the world. The Inside Staterooms are going to offer a Virtual Porthole which will show live feeds of the ocean. There are newly designed Kids Clubs and Teens Clubs, to include a new Tween Club. The Teens will even have their own outside deck with hot tubs and a fountain area
Guests staying in suites will have access to their own deck also. There are suites toward the front of the ship that offer private hot tubs out on the verandahs. The adults will have their own section of the ship with various night clubs called The District (which is similar to Route 66 and Beat Street on the Disney Wonder and Magic).
The Disney Dream has so many new and exciting things to offer cruisers, it is going to be exciting to sail the ship and explore all the new offerings first hand.
The bar at the event was set up as the Skyline Bar on the Disney Dream. You can see the city scenes in the windows.

It's always fun to catch up with the agents at Small World.
My stay in New York was short but fun. I will definitely be traveling back East again very soon.
