At Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, the memories you create will be as vibrant and colorful as the resort itself. Named after the creative process behind Disney’s animated films, this resort provides the perfect setting for your special storybook Disney vacation.

Here is a Disney video tour of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

When you arrive at Disney’s Art of Imagination Resort, the larger-than-life 3-D icons from Disney beloved films: Cars, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, and Finding Nemo will make you feel like a little kid again. As you enter the main building, Animation Hall, you’ll walk under a supersized paintbrush, a symbol of an imagineer’s artistry and creative spirit. Catch a wave of excitement as you embark on a magical chapter in your story!

Here, you’re immersed in the imagination of Disney animation. On one side of the lobby is the check in-desk which seems to glow from a backdrop of rainbow floor to ceiling tube-lighting. On the opposite wall is a display of artists’ concept sketches from popular Disney animated films. The artwork begins as black and white pencil drawings and evolve into finished full of color illustrations. It’s as if you’re watching the animation come to life! Turn your gaze upward and you’ll see a stunning chandelier filled with conceptual sketches! You’re about to step into the storyboard of your own imagination.

Disney’s Art of Animation is a Value Resort that offers guests over-the-top theming at an economical price, with guest benefits including complimentary transportation to all theme parks, water parks and Disney Springs, Early Theme Park Entry and Disney’s Magical Express. A new convenient aerial mode of transportation is the Skyliner. Guests can catch a ride in the sky from a shared station between Disney’s Pop Century and the Art of Animation Resort that brings them to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, where they can transfer to Skyliner routes to Epcot or Disneys Hollywood Studios. This is a major perk for Art of Animation guests by providing them with a quick alternative to Disney’s bus transportation.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is comprised of 1120 family suites inspired by four classic Disney animated films, The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo, Cars, and The Lion King. Each suite is 565 sq ft and sleeps up to six guests (plus 1 child under 3 in a crib) Guests can spread out in the master bedroom with a queen bed, living area with double-size sleeper sofa, double-size table bed, two bathrooms and a kitchenette. This is an economical and fun option for larger families who want to stay together in one suite.

The Finding Nemo suites are located behind the main building near the Big Blue Pool. The interior of the suites includes coral-shaped chairs and bed-frames, blue carpeting resembling waves, and underwater scenes. Because of their preferred location to Animation Hall and the main pool, Finding Nemo Suites are priced slightly higher than other suites at this resort.

Approaching the Lion King suites, you’ll encounter Timon, Pumbaa and Simba hanging out on a log suspended overhead, and Mufasa overlooking the African landscape — including the elephant graveyard. The rooms include jungle-patterned carpets and drapes, Zazu smiling on the headboard and Pumbaa and Timon frolicking on the shower curtain. Get ready to roar!

Mosey on down the blacktop road to Radiator Springs and snap some selfies in the Cars courtyard with a life-sized Tow Mater, Lightning Mc Queen, and Sally. The theming in this section makes you feel like you’re right in the middle of the actual movie set. The interior of the suites evokes a Route 66 motel feel, with orange cone light fixtures, hot rod upholstered sofa and tool chests serving as drawers.

In addition to Family Suites, this resort also offers 864 standard guest rooms in The Little Mermaid courtyard. Filled with gizmos and gadgets that Ariel has rescued from the human world, the courtyard comes to life with giant-sized Ursula, King Triton and Ariel statues. Each Little Mermaid Standard Room is 260 sq ft and features two double beds or 1 king bed, accommodating up to 4 guests, plus 1 child under 3 in crib. Shell headboards and starfish speckled carpets will make you feel like you’re living under the sea!

Do you have a day to spend at your resort? You’re in luck! At nearly 12,000 square feet, the resort’s main pool is the largest resort pool at Walt Disney World! It’s the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing vacation day. The Big Blue Pool is the centerpiece of the Finding Nemo courtyard and it is aptly themed around the popular Disney/ Pixar film. Zero depth entry and an underwater music feature make swimming here a treat.

Nearby, little ones will delight in Schoolyard Sprayground, an interactive water play area that is home to pop-up jets, gushing water and more familiar faces from  Finding Nemo. Adults will enjoy cooling off at The Drop Off Pool bar where they’ll find iced coffees, specialty drinks, beers, and wine, along with grab-and-go sandwiches and fruit.

If you’re looking for a quieter place to dip your toes, there are two quiet pools at this resort. Oversized orange cone cabanas surround the Cozy Cone quiet pool in the Cars courtyard. The cabanas are complimentary for resort hotel guests and no reservations are required. The Flippin Fins pool is located in the Little Mermaid courtyard. Surrounded by large sculptures of King Triton and Ursula, this quiet pool is convenient for guests staying in the Little Mermaid rooms. The Finding Nemo courtyard doesn’t have its own quiet pool, but it offers Squirt’s Righteous Reef, a Nemo-themed playground perfect for kids who prefer to stay dry during playtime.

A unique activity at this resort are the free, daily animation classes. Resort guests and visitors are welcome to stop by for a lesson in drawing a Disney-related theme of the day. These classes are usually held in the lobby area a few times each day – check with a Cast Member for the current schedule while you’re visiting.

In the mood for some retail therapy? The Ink and Paint Shop just off the lobby in Animation Hall is a spacious gift shop filled with colorful souvenirs. You’ll find Disney art-related and resort-themed merchandise, clothing, hats, shoes, jewelry, stationery, candy, and sundry items, including infant needs, first aid, sunscreen, beverages and snacks.

Next door to the Ink and Paint Shop is the Landscape of Flavors. This cafeteria-style Quick Service food court is comprised of four stations that serve fresh, made-to-order options. At the Pizza and Pasta Shop, you can create your own pasta dish; at the Burger Shop you’ll find beef, vegetarian, seafood and chicken burgers; and at the Soup-Salad-Sandwich Shop, specialty sauces and homemade potato chips pack a punch. There is also a market offering grab-and go items, chips, smoothies, cappuccinos, gelato and desserts. Everyone in the family will be able to find something that suits their taste for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Eat at one of the many tables there or bring your meals back to your suite and relax at your own dining table.

Guests of all ages love Disney’s Art of Animation because there’s Disney pixie dust sprinkled everywhere you turn. Budget-conscious families will find the convenient location, reasonable rates and incredible theming hard to beat. When it’s time to start sketching out plans for your next vacation, be sure to make this hotel the star of the show!
