A Peek Inside the Oceaneer Club on Disney Cruise Line

Disney Cruise has designed the Oceaneer Club as a space exclusively for kids ages 3-10. It’s a magical place where they’re free to play, dream, learn, make friends and interact with Cast Members and characters. Their imaginations will soar as they explore themed spaces full of surprises only Disney can create.

While you enjoy an adult dinner or quiet time at the pool or spa, your kiddos will be living their best lives in the Oceaneer Club. They’ll be playing interactive games, engaged in pretend play and maybe even hanging with some of their favorite Super Heroes and Princesses! The Cast Members who work in the Oceaneer Club are trained to keep your kids safe and secure, and to provide an engaging and memorable experience.

Your kids may never want to leave!

Small World Vacations agents have sailed over 600 Disney Cruises and have helped thousands of guests just like you plan their special voyage. They know the ins and outs of how it all works and even have some insider tips to share!
Below, Small World Vacations travel advisors share their expert advice and invaluable tips about the Oceaneer Club on a Disney Cruise:
From Agent Marion: The Oceaneer Club is NOT just for little kids – it’s for the whole family! Visit one of the many Open Houses during your cruise (they start on Embarkation Day), and you can all play together. It is not only a great way to make memories but also allows you into their world. Plus, it’s FUN to be a kid again.

From Agent Minnie: You can see the entire kid’s club activities schedule as soon as you can connect to the ship’s WiFi. This is a great time to sit down with your kiddos and figure out the “Can’t Miss” activities offered throughout your cruise. Having your kids go to the kid’s club the first night is really helpful – that is when everyone is new, and they often have “Get to know you activities” and ways to get to meet new friends.
From Agent Jill: While the Oceaneer Club cannot provide one-on-one support for neurodiverse children, parents can talk with the Counselors to share any particular fears, likes or dislikes. It is also helpful to attend the Open House hours on the first day with neurodiverse children so they can see what to expect and you can introduce them to Cast Members.
From Agent Ella: Safety and security are priorities at the Oceaneer Club. The Cast Members put a “band protector” over MagicBands that children wear in the Oceaneer Club, so they will not fall off. It is a little piece of plastic that wraps around the band and can only be removed with scissors. This extra layer of safety really eased my mind Children must always scan in and scan out with an approved adult present (unless they are allowed to check out by themselves). When kids scan in or out, their picture, as well as the adult’s picture, appears on the Cast Member’s computer screen, and you will be always asked the secret word that you create during registration.
From Agent Jill: Kids have to wash their hands before entering the Club — and the hand wash stations are so much fun! When you put your hands in the sink, water mixed with soap swirls around your hands and then a water only rinse finishes the process. They love it!
From Agent Meredith: Unlike other cruise lines, there are no age separations for kids between 3-10 years old. So if siblings/cousins/friends are traveling together, they can all play together in Disney’s Oceaneer Club, even if there’s an age difference.

From Agent Kathy: One of the best parts of the Oceaneer Club on Disney Cruise Line is that different characters will show up (often without notice) to the club throughout the sailing to visit, play and engage with the children. From Belle reading a story, crafts with Rapunzel, missions with Chewbacca, and superhero training
with Marvel characters, the possibilities are endless! This type of character interaction is unique to Disney Cruise Line and definitely a fan favorite.
From Agent Kathy: While the Oceaneer Club is one of the coolest spaces on the ship, it is the Club Counselors/Cast Members that make this special space such a memorable experience for children. The energy they each pour into making happy memories for children is unmatched. While free play is an option for most children throughout the club, children aged 3 and 4 have special Cast Members assigned to them to offer an extra level of supervision and lead age-appropriate activities.

From Agent Meredith: On the newer ships (Wish, Treasure and Destiny), there are high-tech activities like designing and simulating a ride on your own themed roller coaster, as well as designing your own Marvel Superhero suit and testing it out virtually. The original ships (Wonder, Magic, Fantasy and Dream) have more scheduled activities like games, dance parties, and face painting.
From Agent Shannon: Disney Cruise Line’s Dine and Play program has returned. If you have the 8:15 pm dining time, your kids can quickly eat dinner with you and then the Club Counselors come to the restaurant and take them to the kids club. So they can have fun, while you enjoy dinner at a leisurely pace.
From Agent Shannon: The Cast Members working in the Oceaneer Club can use the Disney Cruise Navigator app to communicate with you while your kids are in the club. That way if they want to stay longer, the Cast Members can easily reach out and let you know.
From Agent Olivia: On the DCL app, you will see a schedule of all the daily activities in the Oceaneer Club. Some will be listed as “Kids only”, and that activity is only available to kids ages 3-10. Other will be listed as “All Ages”, where anyone can join. These are always fun times, where the kids can show their parents all the things they love to do in the Club. One of my kids’ favorites is a “Pajama Party”, where the kids all come wearing their pajamas in the evening. They will often color a pillowcase and have a visit from a character.
